Hardware repair, calibration & return services

ETAS offers a centralized and comprehensive customer service for hardware products, which includes repair, maintenance, and calibration services. All services are carried out by professionals who are specialized in ETAS products and their services.

Request "Return Material Authorisation" (RMA):

  • If you want us to service your device(s), e.g. repair, calibrate etc., use the first form "Hardware repair & calibration services form".
  • If you want to return a product, e.g. due to a wrong delivery, please use the second form "Hardware return form".
  • Customers in the United States, please go to ETAS USA Service and Support.

Product purchased directly from ETAS

To request a hardware service for a product purchased directly from ETAS, we ask you to fill out the Hardware repair & calibration form linked above and follow the instructions in the email sent to you afterwards.

Note: Sending the form does not directly trigger an order. In case a cost estimation is required this is to be mentioned in the form. The customers will then receive an offer based on which they can start their repair order. The shipping costs (including transportation and insurance costs) are to be borne by the customers.

Product purchased through an ETAS distributor

Customers who have purchased a product through an ETAS distributor and wish to request a hardware service are requested to contact the distributor directly.

Requirements and obligations

Please refer to our price list below for the names, item numbers, prices and scope of the various services (repair, calibration or adjustment).

  • If your device type is not included in the list, please get in touch with your responsible ETAS contact person.
  • A minimum flat rate is charged for a general inspection of devices and cables.
  • All quoted prices are net prices, plus the applicable statutory VAT (value added tax) and are only valid for ETAS Germany. For prices in all other countries, please contact your local ETAS representative.

  • Before you hand over your devices to ETAS, please ensure that all customer-specific data is comprehensively backed up and that the settings you have made are recorded or documented.
  • When a hardware service is carried out, the latest firmware version for the respective device is always installed. At the same time, depending on the product, it may be necessary to delete customer-specific settings and reset the device to the factory settings, delivering it in this state. If there are any concerns or if this process does not align with your needs, please contact our hardware services team to discuss potential solutions.
  • Defective cables are generally not repaired, but only checked and replaced if necessary. This also applies to cables that are part of the device accessories.
  • If your device is still under warranty, we ask you to note this information in the RMA form.
  • By default, device calibration and adjustment services are not included as part of a repair. If required, these services must be ordered separately and specified in the RMA form when selecting the desired hardware service.

ETAS GmbH has various calibration laboratories. On the one hand, there is our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration laboratory at the Stuttgart site.

And on the other hand, in addition to the general factory calibration laboratory in Stuttgart/Germany, there are also other “satellite factory calibration laboratories" at the locations in Bangalore/India, Shanghai/China and Yokohama/Japan. These are organized in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and thus meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.

ETAS GmbH issues the following calibration certificates:

In the case of an accredited ISO17025 calibration, the calibration certificates are implemented in accordance with normative requirements. They therefore contain customer-specific data (such as the customer address), are digitally signed and guarantee traceability to national standards.

With regard to the stated declaration of conformity, the decision rule “Non-binary acceptance with security band w = U”, according to ILAC-G8:09/2019, applies as standard in the accredited ISO17025 calibration certificate.

If customers prefer a different decision rule to be applied, this must be clarified with the hardware service team before the order is placed.

In the case of a factory calibration, the calibration certificate contains neither customer-specific data nor a signature. The declaration of conformity uses the decision rule “Simple Acceptance” (also known as “Shared Risk”) in accordance with ILAC-G8:09/2019.

Factory calibration service

  • Service for checking the measurement accuracy considering the device specification.
  • Creation of a standard-compliant calibration certificate

Adjustment-Service incl. Factory-Calibration

  • Service for adjusting/correcting the measuring-device to the smallest possible deviation. The adjustment is linked to a pre- and post-calibration.
  • Creation of calibration-certificates for "pre-adjustment" and "post-adjustment"

Accredited DAkkS Calibration Service according to ISO/IEC 17025

  • Service for checking the measurement accuracy, inside our DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratory, considering the device specification.
  • Creation of an ISO/IEC 17025 compliant calibration certificate, which is internationally accepted and monitored by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).

Adjustment-Service, incl. DAkkS Calibration according to ISO/IEC 17025

  • Service for adjusting/correcting the measuring-device to the smallest possible deviation.
  • The adjustment is linked to an accredited calibration-service for pre- and post-calibration.
  • Creation of ISO/IEC 17025 compliant calibration-certificates for "pre-adjustment" and "after-adjustment", which are internationally accepted and monitored by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).
