Powerful co-simulation and integration platform

COSYM V3.0.0 Beta 1 software screenshot displaying a two-component model on a laptop.

CO-simulation of SYsteMs (COSYM) is a flexible platform for system-level testing and validation, optimized for early development phases. It supports all stages of ECU software development and integrates seamlessly into existing environments. COSYM is compatible with traditional and CI/CD workflows, both cloud and on-premises, and works effortlessly with in-house and third-party tools.

Your benefits

Early validation

Early software testing in a closed-loop scenario (MiL/SiL) from multiple sources.

Flexible integration

Seamless model and system integration with both virtual and real-time environments.

Scalable architecture

Modular, scalable, and cloud-ready, supporting continuous integration workflows.

Possible combinations of ETAS COSYM with other products

In early development, functional tests can be run on a Windows PC (Model-in-the-Loop – MiL). COSYM also supports integrating models from various sources like MATLAB®/ Simulink®, C code, or the functional mock-up Interface 2.0 (e.g., Dymola or GT-SUITE physical models).

COSYM can be used for both closed-loop and open-loop testing. You can simulate discrete-time as well as continuous-time systems. COSYM specifically uses open standards (e.g. ASAM XiL, FMI, and CDF). For instance, the ASAM XiL interface facilitates the connection of a test automation software solution. If the ASAM XiL standard is used, existing test libraries can be utilized in COSYM.

Features

Optimize development with cost-effective SiL testing

COSYM enhances your development process with advanced Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) testing using virtual ECUs. This feature enables early-stage testing, cutting costs and time by simulating real-world conditions before hardware deployment. By connecting virtual ECUs to a virtual CAN/CAN FD bus, COSYM ensures synchronized communication across the system, delivering realistic simulations. Whether integrating ECUs at various abstraction levels or simulating communication between multiple ECUs, COSYM streamlines SiL testing, boosting the efficiency and reliability of your development cycle.

Seamless integration with an intuitive interface

COSYM offers a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) that simplifies the integration of different artifacts into a library. Its intuitive design allows users to model complex E/E architectures using virtual buses or signals, creating a comprehensive simulation environment.

COSYM also supports flexible scheduling within simulations. After setting up the overall configuration, you can select a local Windows PC (MiL/SiL) as the executing platform.

Additionally, COSYM's REST API extends functionality by allowing programmatic execution of all GUI actions. This integration ensures smooth incorporation into existing development environments, making COSYM ideal for continuous integration workflows. Whether you prefer a visual or code-based approach, COSYM offers the tools to customize and streamline your simulation processes.

Control and flexibility in simulation management

COSYM EE is a dedicated experiment environment designed to offer you precise control over simulations and experiments. Tailored for both MiL and SiL use cases, it allows simulation control by Python scripts or ASAM XIL-based test automation tools.

This flexibility is crucial for tailoring tests to specific needs and closely matching real-world conditions. COSYM EE’s clear separation between the integration platform and the experiment environment simplifies the user experience, offering distinct control mechanisms for different user groups. With COSYM EE, you can manage complex simulations efficiently and confide in the robustness and reliability of your testing environment.

Expand and customize with COSYM’s modular add-ons

COSYM base products:

COSYM MiL SiL enables the integration and configuration of C code, FMU, and MATLAB®/Simulink® models for simulation on a Windows PC.

COSYM’s architecture is both scalable and modular, featuring a variety of add-ons that extend its core functionality. These extensions enable you to customize COSYM to your specific requirements.

COSYM add-ons:

  • COSYM MiL SiL EE is an experiment environment that performs simulations and experiments based on integrated models.
  • COSYM MIL SIL XCP allows for parameter manipulation within COSYM MIL SIL and provides signal access through INCA.

Scalable and future-proof cloud simulation

These can only be carried out efficiently by using massively parallel computation in the cloud. With its scalable and modular architecture, COSYM is designed to be the future-proof simulation platform, ensuring optimal readiness for cloud-based testing and development.
