ES16x converters

Convert automotive into standard Ethernet signals

The image shows the three converters of the ES16x gigabit automotive Ethernet media converter family.

The ES16x product family enables developers to read, calibrate, diagnose, and flash data from the vehicle, for example via a computer by converting automotive Ethernet signals into standard Ethernet signals. The converters are easily configurable via browser, support IEEE1588 for measuring signal propagation time, and provide full feedback on the status of the unit via LED coding.

Your benefits

Resistant to external impacts

Suitable for challenging environments thanks to robust LEMO connectors and splash water protection.

Energy efficient

Conserves the car battery through optimized operation.

High automation level

Automatic synchronization of bit rate, automatic master/slave mode, automatic standby mode.

All ES16x gigabit automotive Ethernet media converters

The ES16x family consists of three converter types. Various cables are available to make them perfectly adaptable to their use in different environments. They enable easy connection of the modules to both shielded and unshielded vehicle networks and XETK interfaces.

ES160: for use on a PC or with Ethernet switch

The ES160 is designed for use on a PC. The module can convert signals point-to-point, i.e. connect a computer to an ECU or mirror port. The external power connection with banana connectors (ES160.1) or safety banana connectors (ES160.1-S) allows it to operate without having to interconnect other hardware modules. This makes the ES160 easy to integrate into any development environment.

The ES160 uses a certified, robust LEMO connector for the connection to the automotive Ethernet source. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. Connection to the host takes place via an RJ45 connector.

ES162: for use with gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports

The ES162 is designed for use with the ES800 measurement, calibration, and prototyping system, including the ES820 drive recorder module. No additional power connection is required. The ES162 uses a certified, robust LEMO connector to connect to the automotive Ethernet source. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. The connection to the host is also established via a LEMO connector, which can be connected to a GE port.

ES165: for use with fast Ethernet (FE) ports

The ES165 is designed for use with the ES800 measurement, calibration, and prototyping system, the ES500 ECU and bus interface modules and the ES600 network module. It uses a certified, robust LEMO connector for the connection to the automotive Ethernet source. The speed can be set manually to 100 Mbit or 1 Gbit or determined automatically. The connection to the host is also established via a LEMO connector, which can be connected to an FE port.
